Do you feel the class has met your expectations?
I do. It has actually exceeded my expectations. Before I began this journey of a career change, all I knew was what I had found online and read in a book. And much of that information was confusing. Not only has the class laid out the job and all that it entails, the chatroom creates an environment where I feel comfortable asking a question about something I’ve learned, but don’t fully understand.
What are your thoughts on the Homework given?
I feel like the majority of the homework throughout the entire course is very helpful in solidifying concepts. It can be difficult to understand and remember some of the details when it’s not put in practice, but the assignments give hands-on opportunities to try out the TAOC system.
In some of the later lessons, it was discouraging and frustrating to be given the same assignment that I had done just one or two lessons before. While it was easy to resubmit the same assignment, I would have appreciated a new assignment to practice the concepts.
How did you like the class being online?
The online class was perfect for me. Not living in a film hub city, there aren’t many opportunities to attend live classes on Script Supervising. I also appreciated that it flexed with my schedule and ability to study.
What do you think about the teacher?
I think Dawn is an excellent teacher. I think that with so many years under her belt as a working Script Supervisor, she has so much to offer. I also appreciate that her class begins with the basics of the job, to include pen to paper forms.
What is your confidence level since taking the course?
The first student film I worked on, I was very nervous and unsure if I would remember everything I had learned. However, I quickly realized that I knew not only what my job was, but also the basics of many of the jobs around me. On my first day, I sat to the side, trying not to get in the way, taking notes as best as I could. By the end of the shoot, I was educating the student

What did I know before the class? What have you learned after the class?
I knew quite a bit about being a good Script Supervisor, after all I was taught by the same person that taught Dawn. However, with dawns class I went from being good to being GREAT.
Your thought on the homework given.
The homework was challenging, it made me have to come with my A game.
How did you like being online?
Being online had it ups and downs, trying to figure out how to configure the hardware I bought was a pain in the neck. However, being able to interact with my classmates (who I hope to stay in contact with) was a lot of fun. I really like the fact that I can go back and watch ANY lesson as many times as needed.
What do you think about the teacher?
Dawn is a very caring and passionate person. She cares enough about her students to DEMAND the very best they can give. She reminds me of a mother, A mother knows each one of her children well enough to know when a certain child is slacking she pushes that child to dig deep and do a little more. A mother that worked all day/week on the set of her on project putting in at least 80 hours a week and still finding time and energy to give some to her children/class. THANKS DAWN.

The TAOC class not only met my expectations, it exceeded them. My goal coming into the class was to learn the Script Supervisor craft, but what I gained was more than just the knowledge and skills to become a Script Supervisor. The homework given per lesson is challenging. Challenging in a sense that you need to have really understood well the contents being taught in the lesson, to be able to apply it in the homework. It is strategically planned out by Dawn, designed to provide you with not only knowledge of the Script Supervisor craft, but the practical experience of being one. The homework is also aimed at grasping the TAOC standard of doing the craft. She is very detailed and thorough with her reviews on your homework to set you up to that standard from the start. This is aimed to the goal of making you 'The best Script Supervisor for the project."
How did you like it being online
I very much like it being online. However as usual, there is a always the Pros and Cons of online study. Pros of course, is being able to study in the comfort of your own home, and in your own time and pace. However, the Cons is that there is always a higher chance of you slacking off and progressing very slow. But throughout the class, Dawn never fails to encourage her students to push through and help each other out. Personally, my dream of becoming the best Script Supervisor one day has been my drive and Dawn, my greatest inspiration.
What do you think about the teacher
Dawn is a wonderful teacher. She is always so generous about providing knowledge to her students and is very approachable. She supports her students tirelessly - always there to answer your questions, and guide you when you need it. Dawn's way of teaching is this honest and upfront. But never with the intention to harm you, instead to build you up and encourage you to be the best for the project. That is my idea of a good teacher, and that is Dawn. A perfect example of a great Script Supervisor with a true passion for the craft and dedication for teaching.
I've experienced first hand Dawn's dedication in teaching her students, and I'll never forget that moment. When I was just starting the class and was struggling with the homework, Dawn reached out to me and we spoke through Skype. She went the extra mile to make sure I understood the lesson. This, despite working on a project too at the time. I was surprised at that and overwhelmed, especially coming from a Script Supervisor at her level. It just goes to show her dedication for the craft and her students.
What is your confidence level since taking the course
My confidence level went from zero to a hundred. The further you get into the lessons, the more confident you get, as you slowly learn through the different areas of the job. Dawn's course is designed so as not only provide you with the theoretical understanding of the craft, but the practical sense as well that enables you to beautifully transition from the virtual classroom to the professional set environment. All this, and knowing that you are learning from the best Script Supervisor in the business that is presently working the job and does what she preaches, is enough to give you confidence that the system works and it is solid.

Yes. This class has been the best decision ever! I still remember the day I stumbled upon Dawn's youtube channel talking about her class and reading class reviews about it. It's hard to believe that the time has finally come where I get to write my own review of the class. This moment I never thought would come. So, I want to make sure I write a good one.
It has been quite a journey to get here. Many challenges along the way, but through God and with the help of my amazing mentor, Dawn, and my fellow TAOC Script Supervisors, I was able to push through them and make it to the finish line. Thank you Dawn! No words can express my gratitude. You inspire me everyday, every project I take on, to work in the TAOC standard you have put so much effort into incorporating in us, your students. Thank you so very much for answering my questions and expressing your thoughts on the matters. I realized so many points I needed to work on moving forward into this class and into starting my career as a Script Supervisor. I really appreciate it!
As I was writing my questions to you about 2 days ago, I was actually going into 2nd day of a 3 day shoot for a short film. Your video response and advice couldn't have come at a better timing. I took everything to heart and went over the areas that I lacked and changed my approach on the 2nd day of photography. I collaborated with the director & D.O.P and spoke up without hesitation and just did my job without having a care what other people think.
We were shooting the biggest scene in the story too that day and we also had a special guest Mr. Lochlyn Munro on set for an appearance on this short. Everyone appreciated my efforts and took notice, including Mr. Munro himself. I realized a lot that day about what being a Script Supervisor really is truly about and i can see now why you consider yourself a film maker. That's exactly how i felt that day. So I will continue on with that approach moving forward and study hard to master this craft.

What you knew before the class and what you know now:
Before I started the class, I had read a couple of books, attended a course at the London Film School for prepping the script and shadowed a couple Script Supervisors, but mostly I had learnt on the job. The paperwork side of things I found very straight forward, but I was less sure about what was important; what were my priorities as a Script Supervisor; what did I need to pay most attention to, what mattered and what didn't matter as much. I didn't want to get into any bad habits. I knew that I needed something to guide and shape me as a Script Supervisor.
Now I feel more confident in my ability as a Script Supervisor. I know what is important and what my priorities and duties are. My paperwork presentation has improved greatly. I am much more conscious of how my work looks and I take much more pride in it.
Your thoughts on the Homework given
There's a lot! Which is wonderful. It's always a challenge. You have to put in the time to really do it thoroughly, ensuring that you gain the most from it.
How did you like it being online
It's fantastic that it's online. The material is easily accessible; giving you the flexibility to fit into your schedule, take it at whatever pace you need to
What do you think about the teacher
Dawn is a very giving teacher. I don't know how she manages to teach and work, but she is always has time for her students. She pushes you to be the best Script Supervisor you can be.
What is your confidence level since so far.
The course has given me the confidence I needed to believe in my abilities as a Script Supervisor, which in turn has made me better. I feel that I am taken more seriously as a result.
How do other industry professionals respond to you since taking the course
I am getting good feedback from industry professionals, in particular Assistant Editors. They like my noes, they find them clear and always have the information they need. This is testament to Dawn's teachings and The T.A.O.C methods.
Anything else you may want to say
I started this course over 2 years ago, coming close to 3! The last couple years have thankfully been very busy and I have been stepping up and onto bigger and bigger jobs. Dawn provided me with what I needed to do this and I am so thankful that I found T.A.O.C. and that I have Dawn as my mentor. I am not the best at managing my time and consequently I have gotten a bit lax with my studies... no fault but my own. But Dawn has always been there, giving me that little prod that I need and inspiring me to do better.

Many challenges along the way, but through God and with the help of my amazing mentor, Dawn, and my fellow TAOC Script Supervisors, I was able to push through them and make it to the finish line. Thank you Dawn! No words can express my gratitude. You inspire me everyday, every project I take on, to work in the TAOC standard you have put so much effort into incorporating in us, your students. And while there's still a long way to go, I want to make you proud one day. I'm excited for what's to come and I can't wait to share it with you all.

Thank you so very much for answering my questions and expressing your thoughts on the matters. I realized so many points I needed to work on moving forward into this class and into starting my career as a Script Supervisor. I really appreciate it!
As I was writing my questions to you about 2 days ago, I was actually going into 2nd day of a 3 day shoot for a short film. Your video response and advice couldn't have come at a better timing. I took everything to heart and went over the areas that I lacked and changed my approach on the 2nd day of photography. I collaborated with the director & D.O.P and spoke up without hesitation and just did my job without having a care what other people think.
We were shooting the biggest scene in the story too that day and we also had a special guest Mr. Lochlyn Munro on set for an appearance on this short. Everyone appreciated my efforts and took notice, including Mr. Munro himself. I realized a lot that day about what being a Script Supervisor really is truly about and i can see now why you consider yourself a film maker. That's exactly how i felt that day. So I will continue on with that approach moving forward and study hard to master this craft.

What you knew before the class and what you know now:
Before I started the class, I had read a couple of books, attended a course at the London Film School for prepping the script and shadowed a couple Script Supervisors, but mostly I had learnt on the job. The paperwork side of things I found very straight forward, but I was less sure about what was important; what were my priorities as a Script Supervisor; what did I need to pay most attention to, what mattered and what didn't matter as much. I didn't want to get into any bad habits. I knew that I needed something to guide and shape me as a Script Supervisor.
Now I feel more confident in my ability as a Script Supervisor. I know what is important and what my priorities and duties are. My paperwork presentation has improved greatly. I am much more conscious of how my work looks and I take much more pride in it.
Your thoughts on the Homework given
There's a lot! Which is wonderful. It's always a challenge. You have to put in the time to really do it thoroughly, ensuring that you gain the most from it.
How did you like it being online
It's fantastic that it's online. The material is easily accessible; giving you the flexibility to fit into your schedule, take it at whatever pace you need to
What do you think about the teacher
Dawn is a very giving teacher. I don't know how she manages to teach and work, but she is always has time for her students. She pushes you to be the best Script Supervisor you can be.
What is your confidence level since so far.
The course has given me the confidence I needed to believe in my abilities as a Script Supervisor, which in turn has made me better. I feel that I am taken more seriously as a result.
How do other industry professionals respond to you since taking the course
I am getting good feedback from industry professionals, in particular Assistant Editors. They like my noes, they find them clear and always have the information they need. This is testament to Dawn's teachings and The T.A.O.C methods.
Anything else you may want to say
I started this course over 2 years ago, coming close to 3! The last couple years have thankfully been very busy and I have been stepping up and onto bigger and bigger jobs. Dawn provided me with what I needed to do this and I am so thankful that I found T.A.O.C. and that I have Dawn as my mentor. I am not the best at managing my time and consequently I have gotten a bit lax with my studies... no fault but my own. But Dawn has always been there, giving me that little prod that I need and inspiring me to do better.

TAOC went beyond script supervising. It gave me a structure and a foundation that a film school would have never been able to do. TAOC was a connector of all things filmmaking. We were learning to be script supervisors but evolving and graduating the course as editors, directors and crew members with a strong work ethic and set etiquette. I always felt incredibly lucky and grateful that I can reach out to her or the TAOC group at any moment.

I tell people several things I got from Dawn. I know my angles. If you jump the line, now are you going to jump it back. The three things that always saves me in production: Always get your story chronological approved by the director. Send script questions directly to the director. Estimated timings matters.
Training matters, I tell everyone to get proper training as a Script Supervisor because there is a difference between a Scripty and a Script Supervisor.

I am most proud of is my recent work: a movie-inspired commercial campaign for Mazda that launched during the 98th Academy Awards.
